BMW USA announced a campaign of mass improvement (recall) for a hybrid sports car, the i8. Recall done because it found potential fires at i8.

BMW in coordination with the National Institute of Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States, issued the recall command after suspected there was a problem with the electrical system in the car.

The problem is in the welding of bolts to the fuel tank, to install an undersea cable between the vehicle chassis and fuel tank. Welding process is used to attach the cable and feared leak fuel. Due to the close to the source of ignition, then if there is a leak will cause a fire.

As reported Inautonews, Thursday (12/11/2014), yet reported any cases of fires that occur as a result of this problem, including fatalities. BMW and NHTSA to move quickly pull i8 circulating in the US, before it actually occurs case of fire.

Noted there are 238 units i8 withdrawn because of this problem. The unit is manufactured in the period May 16, 2014 until 16th September 2014. The owner of this car will be notified by the network of BMW and the car repaired for free.
